BRAVEST OF THE BRAVE --PARAMVEER CHAKRA --CAPT VIKRAM BATRA --YEH DIL MAANGE MORE

Heard in tales , saw in movies ,imagined in senses but actually witnessed in real life .

The honours done to the various police officers killed in the Mumbai terrorist attack took my mind to another decade ---when our B*****D neighbour attacked us in Kargil .
Our young army officers died like never before ---but there stood out Capt Vikram Batra .

He had already conquered a mountain post and had returned victorious .He was entitled to rest (he would have been recommended for a medal any how )as another party was to be sent to the next mission --the most difficult ---Tiger hills .

But Capt Vikram Batra went up to his seniors and requested to be given charge of tiger hills operations ----his senior replied that since he had already done his duty ---he was entitled to rest and another group was to be sent -----Capt Vikram Batra did not agree ---he argued ---and so argued his senior----the ice was yet to be broken ----Then Capt Vikram Batra replied when asked why he was so much interested for tiger hills ---he replied ---the now famous reply ---he said 'Sir --yeh dil maange more '--the famous pepsi liner ---his senior melted .

He was thus given charge to capture tiger hills .I remember him being photographed with the tri colour --laughing ----the next day ---the news came ---CaptVikram Batra had died to the bullets of the enemy while trying to capture tiger hills ------that shook me ---i could never even imagine such bravery .
He was awarded the highest honour ---param vir chakra ----Param Veer Capt Vikram Batra .

Long live Sir , U inspire ----there shall never be another one like you -wherever your soul is --i salute .
